“You eat too many carbohydrates!”

Why is this so controversial? Because it’s the norm and that is an issue.

First off, let me say that I am not a diet extremist.

Though having come from the fitness social media space, this is apparently a controversial statement.

How dare I suggest restriction or deprivation?

It is bizarre to me that this is not common sense.

But then again I see a host of fitness professionals rabidly defending our right to eat carbs and protecting us from the keto and carnivore zealots.

This is the problem with social media

I used to be one of those fitness professionals.

Someone would say keto and I would jump on them saying “YOU CAN EAT DONUTS AND LOSE WEIGHT.”

I still stand by this…

…but people like me arguing over it on the internet under the guise of a “public service” doesn’t help anyone.

It’s a performance that serves my ego and appeases the social media algorithm.

When probed further, each side will talk about nuance: "It’s about balance, an occasional treat is fine” and they would be right…

Technically, it’s a cronut. A post from my 2015 Instagram.
