Why I closed down a $50k a month business instead of letting it run on autopilot

I got asked recently why I wound down my coaching business instead of replacing myself in it and allowing it to run on autopilot.

This is a great question because, at its peak, the business was turning over $50,000 in a month (and that was mostly profit).

In short, I wound it down because I found myself in a position where I was not enjoying what I was doing.

It would be logical to keep going and push through, hiring and automating in such a way so that I was no longer doing things I hated and then just having a money-making machine working for me 24/7.

This could be considered conventional wisdom and the cost would be my enjoyment. You don’t need to enjoy what you do anyway, right?

Well, that’s not what I did. Let me explain.

When I started coaching in 2015 it was to facilitate my escape from my medical career. I got to coach and I loved doing it.
