The Status Symbols of the Future

A reflection on Tim Denning’s recent article

The article below by Tim Denning, on Substack caught my eye because I am totally uninterested in contemporary status symbols.

These include things such as job titles or ostentatious displays of wealth (cars, watches, and so on).

I feel like what I am working towards is very different to most people and so I was interested in Tim’s take.

The most successful people I know are going in the other direction. ~ Tim Denning

I’ll go through his points one by one, before wrapping it up with a single concept — freedom — something that is currently slipping through our fingers without us even noticing.

1) Online presence (jobs that don't require applications)

He states that not being a ghost on the internet and having at least one social profile is a requirement for this.

Although, I agree and have personally reaped countless rewards from being present online, you have to be careful as social media is a double-edged sword.
