Is it possible to make money doing what you love? An Experiment in Alignment

“What if I built a life where I didn’t need to be organized or productive?”

This was a lightning bolt moment of realization for me.

Is it possible to do just what I loved in life? All the evidence seemed to suggest not.

This is Part 2 of a train of thought that I’ve been having these last few weeks. You can read this article as a stand-alone but for more context, Part 1 is here: “Building a Second Brain… and why I didn’t”.

In the most basic sense, this means focusing on the things that make me happy.

It also means minimizing the frenetic and wasteful activity, that had previously taken up a lot of time and caused a lot of stress, in a vain attempt to live up to society's infinite standards.

When it comes to money, the goal is to do something I love (alignment) whilst actively fighting the needless complexity creep inherent in modern life and business (simplicity).

This is my journey.

“…it was with all of this in mind that I took the ‘rash‘”’ action of effectively burning everything down to start afresh.”

What is stopping us from doing this?

The thinking goes that everything we do in life is to create a feeling — call it fulfillment, happiness…
